Stills and Composition #1

On the first day of shooting, we took a variety of shoots, starting with landscape shots,  followed by countless close ups of Janadhi running. Below are five sample shots and how we specifically considered their composition;

We want to begin the music video with several landscape shots, so this was
the very first one we captured. The two diagonal lines make for an
interesting composition and also lead the audience's eyes along the path.

The horizon line, top of the fence, and bottom of the fence make up the
three horizontal lines of 'rule of thirds'. By following the rule of framing, it
makes for comfortable viewing for the audience
In this shot, the neglected bench is the focus which is why it is placed dead
centre of the frame. Yet when Janadhi enters the shot, we want to adjust the
audience's attention to her. So she is positioned to the right hand side, this is
where the vertical line would intersect in a '9x9' grid, making it an optimum
position spot for the main character.

This is the shot captured from the bridge I climbed. We put a lot of effort into
this one angle because we wanted a wide shot which captured the whole
landscape from above. When the video is played, leaves are blown
diagonally with the wind, adding to the rural feel of the shot.

Several shots were taken from this position. There must be twenty five
clips of Janadhi running right to left. We liked this particular angle as she
runs straight through the centre of the frame. The surroundings also look
very 'grungy' with palettes piled high in the background, adding to the theme
at the beginning of our music video.
