Previously, when deciding on a band name, we produced a group logo. For this, we spent A LONG time scrolling through fonts, but we finally decided on 'Avenir Book'. This was chosen due to its simplicity and wide spacing, making it easily legible. The style of writing was inspired by 'Birdy', an indie artist that famously covered the song 'Skinny Love'. The album cover for the song is striking as it is so simplistic, consisting only of the artists name and song title against a black background.
Below is our design, which hopefully bears a lot of resemblance to Birdy's.
The simplistic logo/ fonts seems to be a convention of the indie genre, 'Amber Run' and 'Bastille' are only a couple of the many artists that we've noticed while researching.
