Mikky Ekko- Smile
Genre: Indie
Mikky Ekko is an American recording artist signed to RCA records (owned by parent company Sony Music Entertainment)
He is a fairly new artist, mostly known for his feature on Rihanna's single stay. He has also become popular through the trailer for 'Papertowns' which used the song 'Smile'. His first debut album was only released in January 2015, it was titled 'Time'.
With his relatively small fan base, I think he currently appeals to underground fans, rather than the mass market.
- Mise- en- scene: vast rural landscapes, high- key lighting, warm colour palette (blues, yellows, oranges), focus on nature (flowers, cornfields), summer feel (open top car, flower crown), switches to low- lit shots taken in a dark urban setting.
- Cinematography- all narrative clips are played in reverse to show the past event, wide angle shots to emphasise the landscapes, fast paced editing which reflects the speed of the disaster.
- Message of video/ generic types- message is to savour good moments, as the summer romance in the video abruptly ends due to a car crash. Generic representation of male, seen to be the strength of the relationship, struggling to show emotion in the individual lip syncing shots.

| The summer feel is the most prominent factor in this video, the upbeat mood comes from the warm colour palette and the use of the vast natural landscapes. |
