Editing to the Beat

According to Andrew Goodwin's music video theory, one of the most important conventions is matching the visuals to the beat of the song. In order to comply with this, we tried to match every shot change with a music beat. With over 110 shots, this became a very strenuous task. However, the precision editor made it easier to be exact.

The tool enables you to align the clips and music very accurately, as you can simultaneously adjust the timing of two clips. After importing the song, iMovie automatically shows the sound waves. This proved to be very helpful during editing as it shows the loudest points and also each beat. For each clip change, we aligned it with the yellow peak of the sound wave. This created a fast paced music video and also make it look more slick.
